Sussex Signs have been shortlisted as finalists for the Southern region of the British Small Business Champions 2004, an award which aims to recognise successful small businesses in the UK. The regional ceremony will be held on 6th October in Winchester, and the winners of all of the regional finals will go forward to the national judging panel with the chance of becoming UK National Champion.

This is one of our most recent projects and one that we are proud of. The banner (pictured left) is a massive 15ft by 8ft, fully digitally printed directly from the client's artwork and on a single piece of banner material. The banner will be hung at the back of the stage behind the concert band that will be performing for the Army Benevolent Fund.

2. Plan: Planning is essential for any good exhibition. The biggest failing for many organisations is the inability to plan EARLY enough, you need to start planning 6-12 months in advance.
3. Budgeting: Exhibiting involves many different costs. As a guide, make sure you allow not only for the exhibition space, but for furnishings and equipment, show services (utilities), transportation, advertising and promotional activities, and personnel including travel, hotel and other expenses.
4. Cost cutting tips: Make sure you take advantage of any early bird discounts, use pop-up stands that can easily be adapted for different spaces, consider buying your own carpet, plants and furniture, consider sharing stand space and therefore cost with a distributor.
5. Display design: When designing your exhibition display, allow 50% for display hardware and 50% for graphics, use colour to create different messages, keep text to a minimum, use lighting to accentuate product displays and create moods, use special effects to capture visitors attention.
6. Pre-show promotions: Send press packs to industry publications and local newspapers. Ensure you invite customers and potential customers to your event. Whilst at the show, consider the other opportunities available such as show programmes and billboards.
7. Exhibitors tool kit: Ensure that you have a checklist of supplies and specific items that you will need for the show.
8. On the show floor: Ensure that your staff are enthusiastic and people-orientated. Smile and maintain eye contact whilst being friendly. Do not eat, smoke or drink on the stand and ensure that staff get regular breaks.
9. Lead management: Ensure that all leads gathered during an event are dealt with in the correct way so that response rates can be measured and the success of the event can be quantified.
