On Monday 3rd December 2001 Sussex Signs received an urgent order from PDH cars in Sussex to replace the entire fascia at the Hassocks premises. The client was moving away from a franchised dealership and required a first-class replacement sign that was to span two elevations and total 48m x 750mm in size.

Our design department produced three layouts based on the client’s ideas and these were presented complete with photographic mock-ups so that the client had an excellent idea of how the final product could look.

Ultimately it was decided that the new sign should be imposing, conform to the new corporate identity and yet retain some familiarity in design. The specification was decided upon: An 11swg illuminated aluminium box, coloured to a specific RAL reference, featuring routed logos and letters with 5mm thick acrylic fitted behind.

Time then became the crucial factor, as the new sign had to be completely manufactured and installed by 31st December 2001. Once the aluminium panels had been manufactured, routed and powder-coated, and assembly of all the lettering and lighting gear was complete a team of six fitters worked for two days between Christmas and the New Year, to firstly remove the existing sign (without damaging it!) and erect the stunning new construction in its place.

Working closely with the client had produced to great effect, during the day, a professional and imposing sign, during the night, an impressive illuminated landmark for a busy main road!

Follow up work was to include further signage, both exterior an interior and promotional graphics to the showroom windows and vehicles.
